Julia Negus

Julia has produced numerous theatre works and tours in the UK, Europe & the US. In 2009, she co-founded the Shop Front Theatre in Coventry. The Shop Front Theatre was winner of the Best Venue, Live Theatre, Arts & Music award in the Coventry and Warwickshire Tourism & Culture Awards. Through Theatre Absolute, Julia is a mentor to producers, artists and independent organisations with DIY project planning and development. Julia is a visiting lecturer at De Montfort University, Leicester and both Coventry and Warwick Universities. She is a member of the WMCA Cultural Leadership Board, and was on the Steering Group for Coventry’s bid to secure UK City of Culture 2021. She is a proud member of Friday 13th, a collective of independent theatre organisations and artists in Coventry.

Julia is also an award-winning textile artist and recently co-founded C-TAG (Coventry Textile Art Group). Work to date includes Small Scale City for Coventry Artspace, Meanwhile – Shop Front Theatre, For The Record – Gloucester Archives Heritage Hub, Lunar Cloth (Luke Jerram/Imagineer Productions, Artist in Residence at War Memorial Park, Coventry and Designer and lead artist on Godiva Coat, Imagineer Productions for London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. An alumni of Coventry University, Julia has a first class degree – BA (Hons) Textiles and was a winner of the Volvo Art & Design Award during her studies.
